Although a Saxon church may have existed here, the north aisle arcade which dates from the 12th century is the oldest surviving part of the church. With the exception of the outside wall of the north aisle which is 15th century and the porch which is16th century much of the remainder of the structure is 13th century. The west tower is Early English, with a Perpendicular upper stage and was built in the 13th century; at the end of the 15th century it was increased in height by one story. The Tower west door which is no longer used, was inserted at the end of the 15th century. There are six bells, all made in 1716 by Abraham Rudhall of Gloucester. The sundial on the south wall is dated 1776. In contrast to the plainest of the aisle windows which are Tudor or later, the five light windows at the east end of both chancel and aisle are good examples of 14 century Decorated tracery. The four-faced clock was fitted in 1885.
