Amanda (Mandy) Williams Magers (Majors). Spouse of David Magers. She was full-blooded Mingo. (or possibly Seneca her grandson Donald Frye always said she was Seneca). Born somewhere in Ohio to parents unknown to us at this time. Family lore states she was related to chief Logan but I have not been able to verify this.

According to my uncle Mandy was very in tune with the land and nature. She frequently would teach the younger relatives (my grandfather) how to make dinner out of what you could trap and pick off the bushes on the way home. I would love to have met her.

Mandy met her husband while he was being held as a POW by the confederate army during the civil war. He promised he would marry her if she helped him escape. He was true to his word.

She was mother to 12 children;
William Oscar Magers Born May-14-1873.
Stella Sevinia Magers Born May-21-1875.
Martha Virginia Magers Born June-5-1877.
Noah Doras Magers Born April-6-1879.
