A true self-made man, Lewis was kind, gentle and honorable and never met a stranger. A born salesman, he worked in the food service industry for over 50 years, starting as a butcher's apprentice and retiring as a District Sales manager with Ben E. Keith Foods in Fort Worth, Texas. He was extremely well respected in the food service community and was a much sought after resource due to his depth and breadth of knowledge. He knew all things food and this knowledge was his gift, which he never hesitated to share with others. He was a great cook as well, his specialties being all things meat and the best salsa in the state. He was adventurous in his tastes and enjoyed a vast variety of foods.
He loved his family more than anything and was content to spend time with them all at his house or theirs. Lewis and his wife, Kay, took their 2 daughters everywhere with them. From road trips to Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and South Carolina to local fishing trips to Texas lakes, he was the ultimate dad, teaching anything from baiting a hook with a live cricket or minnow to how to take care of your car. He gave potential boyfriends the handshake of death in front of the gun cabinet and escorted both daughters down the aisle. He was the best husband and father anyone could ask for. Anyone who knew him was a lucky person indeed.
Lewis was born in Charleston, South Carolina and traveled back there many times, as well as to the Smoky Mountains, Napa Valley, the Bahamas, Aruba, the Grand Canyon, Colorado, Virginia and throughout the south. He enjoyed fishing trips all the way from Yellowknife, Northern Territories down to Costa Rica.
His absence leaves a huge hole in our hearts - he will forever be missed.
