Dr Edward Ellis was born to parents Richmond Streeter Haddock and Mary Jane Ellis. He was a former Mayor of Richmond, Va and a State Senator. He was elected to City Council in 1952 and served as Mayor of Richmond until 1954, afterwards he served another 2 years on city council until he was elected to the Senate in 1956 and served in that capacity until 1964, he ran unsuccessfully for the 3rd seat for the U.S. Congress. Dr Haddock was instrumental in trying to rebuild Parker Field and bring AAA baseball to Richmond, he also was involved in getting the path determined for I-95 through Richmond.

Dr Haddock graduated from the University of Richmond in 19345 and earned his Medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1938. in 1940 he started his practice in Richmond and served as the Physician for Dupont in Richmond from 1940-1942. During WWII he served aboard the USS Alaska as their on board medical officer, when the his duty was over he returned to private practice in Richmond.

Dr Haddock had many accomplishments in his life, he helped to start and serve as the top officer for many local, state and national Medical Groups, he was a founder and past president of the Virginia Academy of Family Practitioners. In 1946 he was a charter member of the American Academy of Family Practice. In 1949 he he was a founder and first president of the Richmond Academy of Family Practitioners.

He served a member of the Virginia Medical Society, the Southern Medical Association and the American Medical Association. He was a member of the Richmond Academy of Medicine and most recently was honorary chairman for the 1996 Richmond Academy of Medicine Auxiliary Foundation.

Dr. Haddock was a former lay leader in the Richmond District of the United Methodist Church.

He was a former director of the Boys Club, the Richmond Symphony and the Richmond City Stadium.

In 1988 Dr Haddock retired and afterward he was an examining physician at the U.S. Military Entrance Processing Station for Virginia.

Dr Haddock was married twice, on 31 Jul 1939 he was married to a Kathleen Scott, children are not known at this time for that marriage. Date is not known of marriage to Constance H. Haddock, he was survived by her as well as a son, Edward E. Haddock Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; three daughters, Kathleen H. Watters of Redwood City, Calif., Marilyn H. Shaw of Sumter, S.C., and Judith H. Teates of Gaithersburg, Md.; a stepson, Rodney H. Albertia of Richmond; and a stepdaughter, Robin A. Rodgers of Richmond.

His obit states his service was held at Welborne United Methodist Church of which he was a member and interment was said to be at Forest Lawn.
