Ruth Viola Ballew was born September 5, 1901 in Blue Springs, Nebraska, to Willaim [sic] and Mayme Sloan McHugh.

Mrs. Ballew, 84, of 205 S. Washington, Bloomfield, Ia., died at 5:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 at the Bloomfield Care Center.

A homemaker, she lived in Davis County most of her life. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene.

She married Charles Jesse Ballew on October 23, 1939 in Beatrice, Nebraska. He died November 5, 1973.

Survivors include one stepson, Amel Ballew of St. Louis, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Avis Bowers of Bedford; four step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29 at the Wagler Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John Hulsizer. Burial was in the Howell Cemetery.
