U.S. Congressman. He was a manufacturer of carriages and wagons, studied theology and was ordained as a Minister of the Methodist Church. He was a member of the Connecticut State House of Representatives, (1816-20) and a delegate to the Connecticut State constitutional convention in 1818. In 1821, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventeenth Congress, serving until 1823. After leaving Congress, he was a surveyor and inspector of customs for the Port of Middletown, (1823-47) and again a a member of the Connecticut State House of Representatives, in 1826. His nephew was Congressman Lorenzo Burrows.
