Final tribute was paid to Edward Chamney Cooke, well-known, area resident at his funeral which was held on Tuesday, November 7, 1972, from the Alan R. Barker Funeral Home, McArthur Avenue, where the service was conducted in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with Rev. K. J. Murray officiating. Interment was in Boyd’s United Cemetery. Mr. Cooke, who had resided at 183 High St., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 5, in Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. He was 83 years of age. Born March 15, 1889, in Scotch Corners, he was a son of the late Seeley Cooke and Rebecca Chamney. He spent his entire life time farming, retiring in 1964 and came to Carleton Place with Mrs. Cooke to take up residence on High St. He attended Zion-Memorial United Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Frances McIntyre; a daughter, Mary (Mrs. R. Arthur Stedman) of Don Mills, Ont.; two grandsons, Bruce and Brian Stedman and a sister, Mrs. Anne McMullen of Merrickville, Ont. He was predeceased by a brother Frank and a sister Laura (Mrs. Byron Bowland), both of Carleton Place. The pallbearers were Pete McGregor, Frank McGregor, Bruce Stedman, Ronald Cooke, Clifford Gardiner and Caldwell Wilson.
