The old Catholic Cemetery is directly off of Filmore Street in Phillipsburg. There is no signage listing the cemetery's name on the fence or inside the property. The cemetery sits on about an acre or less of property on both sides of the cemetery road with a fence surrounding the property. The cemetery is directly next to the Phillipsburg Cemetery as the same road that accesses the Catholic Cemetery is the one that goes on to the Phillipsburg Cemetery. The Catholic and Phillipsburg cemeteries are separated by a fence along with two large pillars that mark the entrance to the Phillipsburg Cemetery. Confusion leads to burials in the Catholic Cemetery being listed in Phillipsburg Cemetery due to no signage and being unfamiliar with the fact that they are two separate cemeteries.
The cemetery entrance is directly off of Filmore Street and the road into the cemetery, splits it in half. The cemetery is not very large and sits outside the entrance of the much larger Phillipsburg Cemetery. The cemetery board has finally placed a sign on the fence at the entrance of the Catholic cemetery to differentiate between it and the Phillipsburg Cemetery. Much confusion has led to memorials in the Catholic cemetery being placed in Phillipsburg Cemetery and vice versa. The Phillipsburg Cemetery is accessed by the same road into St. Philip and St. James Cemetery and is separated by two large pillars at the entrance and a chain link fence after driving through the Catholic cemetery.
