This gorgeous older cemetery is located within Hillsboro city limits. The signs are small and located near each entrance. The cemetery is no longer accepting burials so the driveways have been closed therefore no one may enter by vehicle. There is a small area to park down the street on the south side that runs beside the cemetery. You may park at the very end by the open area. There is a new version of an Historical Marker located at this entrance. The cemetery is fenced with metal fencing and has rock columns at the entrance. At the back entrance is a rock building that houses a Kiosk with the names of the burials and a map. In the kiosk are two benches for resting. There are many antique fences surrounding graves, and the grounds are very clean. There is a crypt near the kiosk which is large and contains a husband and wife. Further back are three graves covered in rounded sheets of metal, they are covering the parents and one child, so they're reflective of the three bears nursery rhyme. This is truly a cemetery where you could spend the day walking among the dead and reflecting on our past, present and future. Burials number 1,441.

History;
Hillsboro City Cemetery was established 1855. There have been no grave spaces available for sale in this cemetery since the 1940's.
