Cemetery notes and/or description:
The Old Hillsboro Cemetery was the first cemetery in the Hillsboro area. For quite a while this cemetery was neglected, and abused by vandals. A group of caring Hillsboro residents came to the rescue, and now maintain is as well as they can. There are 24 Civil War veterans buried here, and one veteran of the Black Hawk War. --SixDogTeam

The cemetery is located in Cain Township (SE quadrant of the SE quadrant of the NW quadrant of Section 12 Township 19N range 7W) on the east side of S Cross Street about 300 feet south of its intersection with E Main Street (US 136).

Indiana Cemetery Locations, Volume 2, published by the Indiana Genealogical Society (01 April 2006), gives the primary cemetery name as Old Town Cemetery with an alternate name of Hillsboro Cemetery.
The cemetery is listed in the Cemetery and Burial Grounds Registry of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and in the State Historical Architectural and Archaeological Research Database (SHAARD) with Cemetery Record Number CR-23-1 (Hillsboro).
