Location: across the road from the south entrance of Laurel Hill Cemetery.
The Anglican Section - Established in 1822
The Cemetery was established on the land surrounding the first Anglican Church, with headstones that date back to 1822. There are some plots that were surrounded by decorative iron fences with wooden corner posts.
The last burial was a John Lougheed on April 14, 1925.
The Methodist Section - Established in 1850
This is located immediately to the north of the Anglican Cemetery. It was registered around 1850, and like the Anglican Section, it is described at Lot 29, Block 4, Plan 7. It is about one third the size of the Anglican section.
There were few burials in either of these after the new Laurel Hill Cemetery was opened and there were many removals to the new cemetery.
After many years of neglect, it was during the 1972 Bolton Centennial year that many improvements where made to these cemeteries. The early stones were placed in a cairn which crosses the old roadway leading to the site of the old Anglican Church.
There is a plaque which says
"Site of 1st Anglican Church built in 1845. Anglican and Methodist Burying Ground restored 1972 - Bolton Centennial.
