aka Ebenezer Evangelical Church Cemetery
Former Ebenezer Evangelical Church, Schnecksville (1871)
In 1871, a one story frame church was erected where the DeToni Meat Shop was later located. It was built by members of the Evangelical faith. Joel Gross, Samuel Schneck, and Ephraim Delong were the building committee members.
A great deal of good was accomplished by the few families who organized it. But, due to changes of residence, to deaths, and other circumstances, the services were discontinued. The building was razed and was transported to Carbon County where it was erected on the outskirts of Lehighton. It was purchased by a religious group from that area. This transfer occurred in 1938.
The Evangelical Graveyard
The graveyard located to the rear of the removed Ebenezer Evangelical Church building remains there. It contains 12 marked graves (now 18 in 2015) and 3 unmarked graves. A marble obelisk marks the resting place of a Civil War veteran, William Henry.
To the left (west) of the marked graves is a Potter's Field that reportedly contains additional unmarked graves.
