Operated and managed by a dedicated team of Dignity Memorial professionals. Thomson In the Park Funeral Home and Thomson "In the Park" Cemetery joined the Dignity Memorial group of funeral homes and cemeteries in Winnipeg when they were acquired by Service Corporation International (Canada) ULC.
The Cemetery was founded in 1953 on 34 acres of farmland in Fort Garry. During the 1950s, Winnipeg's Smith family ran multiple cemeteries in the city. The Smiths eventually sold this cemetery, then called Garry Memorial Park, to the city of Fort Garry. The cemetery became synonymous with quality and grew to become a respected part of the community. Construction on the funeral home on the grounds of the cemetery began in 2002. It opened in 2003 to meet the funeral and cremation needs of Winnipeg and surrounding communities.

There is also a list of such books organized by district and town name on the Manitoba Historical Society's website on their page entitled "Finding Aid: Manitoba Local History Books".
