A committe of prominent local citizens administered the frontier cemetery until 1927. The trusteeship of the cemetery was then transferred to the Shire of Keilor, now know as the Brimbank City Council. Throughout that time it served the people of Melbourne's northwest, providing a valuable service for the closeknit community.
Today Keilor Cemetery is just 20 minties from the centre of Melbourne by the City Link and the Caulder Freeway or Western Ring Road. Now the only viable cemetery in Melbourne's northwest, there are burial and memorial choices for a diversity of religions and cultures.
The cemetery is now managed by the Keilor Cemetery Trust, a non-profit organisation with no funding or assistance from lolcal, state or federal government. Since taking up the management of Keilor Cemetery, the Trust has acquired additional land to the east and north of the original grounds. This land will be developed to meet the needs of the community for at least the next thirty years.
