Sections are divided up by footpaths. There is parking available at entrance behind where pic was taken. Dead end road leads to/at this cem., small winding hill road, several homes along right side of road and an active strip mining area opposite this pic on left of road. This cemetery AKA "Wildcat" locally in reference to older section of Girardville. This view to right side off main lane in from entrance extends over out of picture and towards tree line at top of photo. Sections 2-front, and 4-rear from behind Barnhard marker (large mid-pic). This side fenced in, caretaker building upper right. These areas must be walked. Private residence other side of fence right. This is a dead end road at cemetery, turn around or parking only at/near entrance. *You must go back down Wildcat Rd. to exit area. GPS shown roads other than described here are ATV or coal co. made roads at best. Cemetery located exactly 7/10th of a mile turning off High Road (aka E. Mahanoy Ave.). This is considered N. 2nd Street-Twp. Rd. 947, then onto Wildcat Rd. Twp.-Rd. 656 at hill up. Cemetery is 6/10th of a mile from bottom of Wildcat hill. Directions: From E. Mahanoy Ave. and N. 2nd St. intersect go North up 1 block to "T" (this is Preston Hill on left up steep hill or N. 2nd/Wildcat on right). Turn right and follow road up hill (to right) until coming to cemetery. There are homes at the bottom of hill on left and a few along the way up. There is no street lighting past bottom of hill. It is fairly steep and winding at some spots. Active blasting, strip mining exists in all these sections around Preston/Wildcat/Girardville area. Does not effect cemetery or road in. *Heavy coal truck/other traffic exists along Mahanoy Ave. and care should be taken when turning on/off of it. *Care should be taken the whole length of Mahanoy Ave. due to resident parking on both sides of street in places makes it necessary to slow and let other traffic through, esp. coal trucks if loaded and school bus stops or where it narrows or winding turns exist in other sections. Paved Twp. road shown foreground running to left leads to cemetery main entrance where there is parking and room to turn around. Heavily strip mined area to left and beyond cem from this point).You MUST go back down this paved Twp. road onto N. 2nd at bottom of hill (abt.7/10th mile) to get to Mahanoy Ave. (East and West Mahanoy Ave. start where they intersect w/N. 2nd St., second of 2 stop signs). Mahanoy Ave., is aka High Road of Girardville. *HEAVY coal truck and traffic area, use care pulling in/out of traffic all directions. There are also several school bus stops in this area. Double parking on both sides of Mahanoy Ave. not uncommon, esp. to east of intersection w/N. 2nd St. narrows traffic to one direction at times. Wildcat Twp. Rd. 656 is an extention off N. 2nd St. a block up and to RIGHT from intersection w/ Mahanoy Ave. Preston Hill Road is to LEFT at "T" 1 block off Mahanoy Ave. Follow street signs. f/g member #47533410
