The octagonal vault or deadhouse located on the north side of Section B of the cemetery was built circa 1887 in the style of the vault at nearby Aurora Cemetery, with 9-inch thick brick walls. Until the 1920's the vault was used for winter storage of caskets when the ground was too frozen to dig graves. Since then it has been used for general storage.
The iron fence fronting King Road and a metal sign were added in 1929.
The ornate Crossley monument, made of what was known as white bronze, is actually 99% commercially pure zinc. The material allowed for many intricate designs and most white bronze markers are unique. King City Cemetery was apparently the only cemetery in the area with this type of monument.
Notable burials include:
Members of the founding Crossley family
Walter Rolling, teacher and principal at Kinghorn School for 41 years from 1895 to 1936, who was the first African Canadian educator in King Township
Dr. George Lockhart, a family doctor with an office in his residence in King City, who served the entire Township from 1900 until his death in 1941 at age 78.
The octagonal vault was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act in 2001 and the cemetery was designated under the same Act in 2006.
