The newer churchyard extends up to the road, and what is known as the Parish Cemetery or Ashdon Cemetery adjoins the churchyard.The churchyard was closed by Order in Council in August 1879and a new cemetery of three roods, adjoining the churchyard, was formed in 1877.A portion is consecrated, and the whole is under the control of the Parish Council.Notable burials in the cemetery are those of Sir John Smith-Flett, author and eminent geologist and Elizabeth Everitt, a local farmer's widow, who saw an A-20 Havoc of the 409th Bomb Group, USSAF, crash in a field during 1944. She saved one life and attempted to rescue the remainder of the crew but the blazing aircraft exploded killing them and Mrs Everitt.For her heroism she was posthumously awarded the Albert Medal.The address for the church of All Saints is Church End,Ashdon, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB10 2HG.
