In February of 1826 Jesse Calvert deeded land "for a place to preach and espouse the word of God." Much of the land in the area was owned by Joseph Carter whose son, James, ran a paper mill located near where the church stood. The mill was converted into a wool mill which later burned, giving the name of "Burnt Factory" to the area. On April 8th, 1925 the original church was torn down and the lumber sold at public auction in May to generate funds for a new church. Later that same year a yard party was held and the proceeds from both put toward the new church. The cornerstone of the present day church was laid in July of 1926 and the sanctuary dedicated in June of 1928.
Directions: Take I-81 to Virginia Exit 315 and turn East on VA Rt-7. After about 2 miles, turn left on to Woods Mill Road. Go half a mile and turn right on to Pine Road. Proceed less than a mile to a T-Intersection with Burnt Factory Road, and turn left. After roughly half a mile, the road with turn left and become Jordan Springs Road. The church is located at this intersection. Turn left on to Jordon Springs and the church parking lot will be just past the church on the right. The cemetery is behind the church.
