Cemetery site is located on east side of Highway 491 in mid-western portion of the Withlacoochee State Forest, Citrus County Florida.
Period of Significance: 1887 - 1891
Mannfield was the first county seat location which was determined by the State Legislature in 1887, when Citrus County was established. In 1891, the county seat was re-located permanently to Inverness. By 1895, the Mannfield community had dwindled to no population as other nearby settlements were established

Early pioneer, Austin Mann who in addition to citrus was active in the raising of cattle and sheep. Mann formed a company to dig and operate canals on the east side of the county. He was also active in politics and was the area's State Senator Mann guided through Legislature the bill that created Citrus as a county in 1887. He selected Mannfield as the first county Seat.
Mannfield was settled in 1884and once had a hotel, church, school, 3 general stores, a sawmill and a newspaper. In 1893 the railroad came through the county and bypassed Mannfield in faver of inverness. Nothing remains of Mannsfield, only a concrete foundation that might be an old bank vault. There is also a huge live oak tree that has split in half , but is still alive.
