Bellemans Church Cemetery
Also known as Salem Bellemans Cemetery
Mohrsville, Berks County, Pennsylvania, USA
Salem Belleman's Union Church began as a log structure in 1746. The Old Graveyard is located at the site of the original log church.
In 1884, a new cemetery was founded by Isaac and Mary Graeff call Fairview Cemetery. It's located a short distance from the original graveyard. By 1900, most burials were made at Fairview. In 1979, the church issued a decree stating that no more burials would be made in the Old Graveyard.
Milton and Luella Blatt, in 1979, published A Directory of Burials on Salem Belleman's Graveyard 1746 to 1972. In January 2024, the cemetery was photographed and plot numbers were added following the numbering system in the book. Gravestone numbers follow burial spaces within the cemetery and are not numbered sequentially. Therefore, there are large gaps between stones. A list of burials with no tombstones can be found in the back of this book. The plot field for these folks is labeled as Old Cemetery – No Tombstone.
The Fairview Cemetery Company of Centre Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania was formed 17 May 1890. In 1977, the Fairview Cemetery of Salem Belleman's Church was published which includes a list of lot owners and plot maps. The Blatt's also published a Supplement to Fairview Cemetery covering burials from 1977-1993.
