Daughter of Bennett and Clara McDaniel Johnson. Life long resident of Macon, Georgia.
Born during the depression, she lived with her divorced mother, younger brother, and grandparents. She grew up on Applewood Street in old East Macon, and after she and buck had their first child, lived the rest of her life on Ellsworth Terrace in Macon. She was married eight years before she was able to conceive.
Her first job was at age nine at Green's ten cent store. She attended Fort Hawkins school, and was remembered by classmates as being strong headed and would not back down to bullies.
Mildred learned during the depression years to save and be resourceful. She was ten years old when Pearl Harbor was attacked, and remembered roller skating that day and hearing the neighbors come outside and shout about it from porch to porch.
She was loving Mother who did all for her family. Talented with any craft, wonderful seamstress, great cook. She owned her own business, a ceramic shop, and was very artistic.
She died from years of heart/lung problems. A generous woman! She gave away to anyone in need, even when it meant doing without herself.
Mother of Marsha, Gina, Bill, Richard. Widow of William "Buck" Brockman, Married later to her second husband, Harold H. Lee who passed away a few months after she did.
