NORMAN — Funeral services for Patrick D. "Pat" Burton, 51, and a lifelong resident of Norman, will begin at 2 pm Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013 in The Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home, 3401 Havenbrook Street in Norman.

The Burton family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Feb. 19, 2013 at the Havenbrook Funeral Home.

Patrick Dean Burton was born March 11, 1961 in Norman, the son of Ennis Palmer and Prestina Fay (Jackson) Burton.

He passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at his home, alongside his best friend, Jacob, a border collie that brought Pat a lot of love and smiles.

Pat has lived in Norman his entire life, attending the Norman Public Schools and avidly supporting OU football.

He was a simple man with a great sense of humor and enjoyed spending time with his friends at Ole Blues.

He also enjoyed NASCAR, closely following Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He took great pride in maintaining a perfect yard, proudly displaying OU memorabilia to show his unwavering support for the Sooners!

Pat was taken from us senselessly and there is no understanding why anyone would want to cause a family so much hurt and pain, but we remain hopeful that the individuals that took Pat's life will be brought to justice and be punished for what they did.

We will miss Pat's smile and laugh, but in the end we are grateful for his life, for the friendships that he enjoyed and for all the kindness and prayers extended to our family as we say goodbye to Pat.

Pat is survived by his mother, Tina Burton of Norman; one sister, Sharon Roberts and her husband, Jeff of Lebanon, Tennessee; one niece, Amie Lewis King of Hermitage, Tennessee, one nephew, John Robert Lewis, II, of Pegram, Tennessee, one great-niece, Journey, one great-nephew, John Ryan; an Uncle and Aunt, Butch and Roseanne Jackson, and their daughter, Debbie, and her son, Colton; and lifelong friends, Jacquline Jackson, Terry Ray Stewart and many additional friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Coy Burton; one brother, Mike Burton; his paternal grandparents, R.J. and Mollie Burton; his maternal grandparents, Preston Jackson and Phaye McIntosh; and a pet dog, Duke.

Burial will conclude in the Fairview-Maguire Cemetery in Noble immediately following the chapel service.

In memory of Patrick, donations may be made to Arvest Bank. Arrangements for Pat and his family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
