Tom was my high school boyfriend. Because of Tom I always had a date to the prom, homecoming and other high school events. He was my best friend and made my high school years so happy. Many say we should have married, and after high school we did get engaged, but it was difficult back then. He was a good Catholic boy whose aunts and uncles were priests and nuns, and I was a Methodist Sunday School teacher. So we parted and each went our own way. But we never forget our first love.

Tom had his own stock car which he raced and maintained, and also loved any and all kinds of auto races. In the picture of him in his car, #38, Speedy Gonzalez was painted on the other side. The car was orange with yellow lettering. I know because I painted it! Here Tom is seen taking a victory lap.

Tom married a girl with the same name as me, only spelled differently. She was "Laurie", and I am "Lori." The final picture shown here is of Tom and his wife, Laurie, at our 20th high school reunion. That was the last time I ever talked to him, although I still talk to him now and I think he hears me.

Tom was the son of Richard M. and the late Jean M. Winkler Gilsdorf. He graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1969. He then graduated from Lakeshore Technical Institute with an associate degree in auto mechanics.

He married Laurie Wunsch on January 24, 1976 in Sheboygan Falls. Survivors include his wife, Laurie, one daughter, Jessica, two sons, Aaron and Geoffrey, his father, Richard M. Gilsdorf, step-mother, Lucy Gilsdorf, two brothers, Gerard (Linda) Gilsdorf and John (Karen) Gilsdorf, and one sister, Marian Gilsdorf, who died of ovarian cancer in 2005, all of Sheboygan Falls. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Cause of Death: Respiratory disease, complications from bronchitis
