Dean Sather, 69, of Badger, MN, died on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

Dean Harvey Sather was born July 7, 1943 to Alfred and Deborah (Graff) Sather in Roseau County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethania Lutheran Church of Greenbush. He attended Haug-Leo Elementary School and Greenbush High School, graduating in 1961.

Dean married Carmen Majer July 5, 1964 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Greenbush. They lived in North Dakota, where he worked on the missile sites. In 1966, he moved back to Minnesota to help his father farm. Dean and his brother Alvin took over the family farm in 1969, and Dean built a home on the family farm homesite. Dean and Alvin raised small grains cattle and hogs, and began a trucking and feed company. In 1981, the farmland was sold, and Dean and his brother Clark began a custom combining business. Dean then became a long-haul trucker. He drove for Arnold Brothers of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Roy Nelson of Roseau MN, Nelson Trucking of Deerwood MN and Byfuglien Trucking of Roseau MN. He was also a partner in the sanitation business, WSI, for several years.

Dean enjoyed reading, mowing grass, seeding and maintaining food plots at the hunting land, and spending time with his family and friends at the cabin. He especially enjoyed deer hunting season every year. He usually shared a hunting stand with his granddaughter Micaela, and he shared his stories and laughter with everyone. His family was the focus of his life, his pride and joy, and he was always there to lend a helping hand whenever he was able. He was the caretaker at the Old Bethania Cemetery for many years.
