Funeral services for Mary Margaret Hyde were held Thursday at Mansfield-Hertz Funeral Home, Malvern, Iowa. Burial was at Malvern Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Malvern Library Building Fund.
Mary Margaret Hyde, 88, Malverne, died Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Hyde was born April 1, 1917, at Gallatin, the daughter of William Judson and Della (Place) Gann.
She attended the Gallatin High School where she graduated as class valedictorian in 1935. She enrolled at Lindenwood College in St. Charles and then entered Iowa State University at Ames. She graduated with a B. S. degree in textiles and clothing from Iowa State in 1939.
She married Richard Allen "Dick" Hyde of Hastings, Iowa, on Sept. 10, 1939. They were married for 40 years. He died on July 8, 1980.
Thier first home was at Eldora, Iowa, later they moved to Winona, Minn. In 1940, they moved to the family farm near Hastings, Iowa, where they joined Dick's parents in operating the family farm.
Mrs. Hyde was a member of the First Baptist Church in Malvern where she served as Sunday School teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Malvern Garden Club, Love Thy Neighbor Club, and later joined the Malvern United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, Bill Hyde and his wife Kay (Beals) of Hastings; one brother, James Gann and his wife Marilyn of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; grandson Joe Hyder of Malverne and granddaughter Jennifer Vornbrock and her husband Joey of Omaha; a niece, Judith Gann of Austin, Texas; two nephews, Steven Gann of Gallatin, and Carlan Gann of Kansas City.
