Maynard was the sixth of seven children born to Maynard Solomon, Sr. and Florence Alabama (Gasaway) Bean. He married Anna Caroline Darrow in 1924 and they had eight children: Maynard Lee, Sylvester Owen, Richard Dave, Thomas Franklyn, Vernon Wayne, Carroll Wesley, Ernest Keith and Sharon Ethel.

Carpenter Found Dead in Truck
Maynard S. Bean, 51, a Billings carpenter, was found dead in his panel truck 4 1/2 miles west of Acton at 5:30 p.m. Saturday by sheepherders, Tom Kennett and Martin Ohlhauser.
Deputy County Coroner Eres Leo said it was a self-inflicted death by carbon monoxide poisoning. He said exhaust fumes had been piped into the truck.
The two herders went to Broadview and from there notified Sheriff Roy R. Stewart, who investigated. Kennett and Martin said they thought they saw the vehicle Friday noon from a distance.
When they discovered it was still there late Friday, they investigated.
Mr. Bean resided at 730 Ave. F. The body is at the Settergren Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Settergren's Funeral Chapel for Maynard S. Bean, 51, Billings flooring contractor, who was found dead in his panel truck near Acton Saturday afternoon. He had resided at 730 Ave. F.
Death was caused by carbon monoxide gas poisoning, Deputy Coroner Leo Eres said Saturday night, and was apparently self-inflicted. Exhaust gas from the truck had been piped into the truck body.
Mr. Bean had undergone abdominal surgery last December and had been in ill health ever since. His family said Sunday he had been despondent over his failing health.
He was born Feb. 10, 1902, in Lee, Mont., son of Mr. And Mrs. M. S. Bean, and was taken by his parents to a ranch near Warren in 1907. He was reared there and attended school at Bridger. He married Miss Carolyn Darrow in Billings Aug. 2, 1924, and the family moved to Billings in 1944.
He was a member of Billings Star Lodge and Little Horn Encampment of the 100F and of Zelda Rebekah lodge. He was a member of Billings local of the Carpenters Union. Mr. Bean was a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, five sons, 1st lt. Owen Bean of San Francisco; Sgt. Richard Bean of Hadden Field, Japan; Thomas Bean of 1544 Lewis Ave., and Vernon and Ernest Bean at the family home; a daughter, Miss Sharon Bean at the family home; a brother, Jordan S. Bean of Forsyth; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Storm of Forsyth and Mrs. May Bown of Porterville, Cal., and four grandchildren.
