Major League Baseball Player. "Mickey" had a 13-year career in Major League Baseball and was a four-time All-Star Catcher with the Brooklyn Dodgers. He played on the St.Louis Cardinals, Brooklyn Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox teams. After his retirement, he found and directed the Mickey Owens Baseball School. Located on 595 acres in Miller, Missouri, the school taught baseball fundamentals with practice games in a camp setting. Further, he served as Greene County, Missouri Sheriff for 16 years. Mickey served honorably in the US Military and, in his later years of life, retired to live in the Veteran's Home in Springfield, Missouri, where he had played ball as a young man and close to his baseball school.
