CHATFIELD -- Alice Baker, 96, of Chatfield, a former Pleasant Grove farm homemaker, died Saturday (Dec. 4, 1993) at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield where she resided since Jan. 13, 1987.
Alice Hanley was born July 18, 1897, in Jordan Township, rural Chatfield, and graduated from Chatfield High School in 1916. After completing normal training she taught in rural schools in the Balaton, Minn., and Chatfield areas until her marriage. She married William Baker in 1918 in Pleasant Grove and they farmed in the area before moving into Chatfield. Her husband died in January 1970.
Survivors include five sons, Gordon of Babbitt, Minn., Boyd and Norbert, both of Chatfield, John of Bloom-ington, Minn., and Morris of Pacific Grove, Calif.; a daughter, Evelyn Krull of Elkton, Minn.; 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Two sons, a daughter, three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Chatfield, with the Rev. Kenneth M. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield and an hour before the service at the church.
