US Congressman. He served in the United States House of Representative as a Nebraskan Democrat, serving March 4, 1911 to March 3, 1919 in the Sixty-second United States Congress. Born the son of German immigrants, Charles Otto Lobeck and Anna Lovisa Zacharisdotter, his education consisted of studies at the German Wallace College in Ohio and Dyhrenfurth Commercial College in Chicago before entering the hardware business in 1892. As a Republican in 1892, he entered politics and was elected to the Nebraska state senate. From 1897 to 1903 he served in the Omaha city council, while selling real estate and insurance on the side. By 1896 he switched parties to become a Democrat. He was a Presidential Elector for Nebraska in 1900. He served as city controller from 1903 until 1911, before becoming a Congressman. He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1918 to the Sixty-sixth Congress, returning to real estate and the insurance business. He married Emma L Cook on July 27, 1886 and the couple had two daughters.
