Sandie was the third child of four, born to Walter H. And Rae G. Birch. She was my little sister. Her husband Charles had passed away at a young age only four years before Sandie did. She was a widow at 29.

Sandie had a heart of gold, filled with so much compassion for humans and animals alike. She would stand up for those who were teased and bullied in school, and be their friend.

She loved kitties! If one came to her door, she had to feed it, and as a result had many little friends.

I lived in California for four years in the 80's, and she moved out there to be with me. I have many good memories of her, but my fondest is one of when Aerosmith started touring again, we went to one of their first concerts together. I cry every time I hear the song "Dream On" now; happy AND sad tears.

She remained in California after I decided to move back home to Minnesota with my children.

Sandie took her own life at 33 years old, leaving us all in shock. And with many "what ifs". One thing she taught me through her death, was to never ever take for granted those you love.

She left behind her parents;two sisters, one brother, three nieces and three nephews, a great-niece (and two months after her death, a great-nephew was born),two maternal aunts and uncles, two paternal aunts, her maternal grandmother, and many cousins and friends. Sandie was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Chuck) Culver, who died of complications from pneumonia, in 1990; a niece, Melissa Birch; her paternal grandparents, four uncles, and one aunt.

She left no children, only an ache in our hearts that will never disappear. She was cremated, and buried with our Grandpa Birch.

Thanks so much to Bruce Aiton for getting Sandie's grave marker photos!!
