World War II German SS SS-Obergruppenfuhrer. He was adjutant to Waffen-SS leader Heinrich Himmler, and was rumored to have been ordered by Adolph Hitler to kidnap Pope Pius XII. He was responsible for surrender of all German troops in Italy in 1945. After the war he served 4 years in prison (1962 to 1966), then worked as a pharmacist till his death in 1984.
