In October 1950, he entered the FBI and was assigned in New Haven, CT; New York City; Washington D.C.; and Albuquerque, where he served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge and later as Special Agent in Charge for the State of New Mexico. He retired in 1980 and formed a private investigation firm, Maximum Security Agency, until 2009.
Forrest, fondly known as “Put”, was active in the Albuquerque community, serving on the following boards: Crimestoppers, the One Hundred Club, Albuquerque Sports Hall of Fame, was a member of Rotary, ASIS and the Lobo Club and was a Shriner and a Royal Jester and was instrumental in establishing many charity golf tournaments.
He leaves behind these families who loved him dearly. Beverly Southard, Steve (Shelia) Southard, Paula (Mark) Glaser, Christopher (Kuhi) Southard, Cori (Daniel) Luquet, Nathan (Sarah) Southard, Derick Southard, Kaci (Michael) Disney and four great grandchildren; Gary (Glenda) Fichtner, Garrett Fichtner and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015 at FRENCH – Wyoming with a reception following. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the One Hundred Club of New Mexico, Inc., PO Box 1154, Albuquerque, NM 87103 or to the Special Olympics of New Mexico, www.sonm.org .
