Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Lorenzo S. and Elsie Ober McCracken.
She was the wife of Stephen J. Aument, Jr. They were married for 58 years.
Jean was a 1944 graduate of McCaskey High School. She worked in several offices including Dewalt, Lancaster Transportation Company, and RCA. Jean took great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling, knitting and crafts. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Stephen J Aument III, husband of Carla L. Aument of Lancaster, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brothers William H., husband of Earla McCracken and Jerome, husband of Eva McCracken, both of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by brothers, Donald and Richard McCracken and sister, Catherine Allen.
The funeral will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 East Orange Street, Lancaster. Friends may call Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Intermentin Mellinger's Mennonite Cemetery.
