U.S. Congressman. He engaged in agricultural pursuits and was active in several local community offices. In 1841, he was elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-seventh Congress, serving until 1843. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he was supervisor of Southfield, New York, (1855-56) and Clerk of Richmond County, New York, in 1869. After leaving politics, he resumed his agricultural pursuits until his death at age 81.
