Japanese Actor. Nakajima played Godzilla for 12 consecutive films, beginning with the original 'Godzilla' in 1954. He subsequently played the character in 'Godzilla Raids Again' (1955), 'King Kong vs. Godzilla' (1962), 'Mothra vs. Godzilla' (1964), 'Ghidorah: the Three-Headed Monster' (1964), 'Invasion of the Astro-Monster' (1965), 'Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster' (1966), 'Son of Godzilla' (1967), 'Destroy All Monsters' (1968), 'All Monsters Attack' (1969), 'Godzilla vs. Hedorah' (1971) and 'Godzilla vs. Gigan' (1972). He also played monsters in 'Mothra' (1961), 'Frankenstein vs. Baragon' (1965), 'The War of the Gargantuas' (1966) and 'King Kong Escapes' (1967). His career began in samurai and war films, notably 'Seven Samurai' (1954) and 'Eagle of the Pacific' (1953). Among other films he had acting roles in were 'Sword for Hire' (1952), 'Madame Whitesnake' (1956), 'The Hidden Fortress' (1958), 'Westward Desperado' (1960), 'Wings Over the Pacific' (1963), 'What's Up, Tiger Lily' (1966), 'Latitude Zero' (1969) and 'Japan Sinks'(1973). In his later years, Nakajima attended Japanese monster conventions, including several across the United States, and wrote a Japanese language autobiography 'Monster Life: Haruo Nakajima, the Original Godzilla Actor' which was published in 2010. The Godzilla character has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
