US Congressman. He was a carpenter and served as Deputy Sheriff of Hillsborough County for over twenty years before winning election as Sheriff in 1840. In 1844 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat and served one term. He was a member of the Governor's Council from 1848 to 1849, and also served again as Deputy Sheriff. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Amoskeag Bank and was serving as President of the Amoskeag Savings Bank at the time of his death.
