US Congressman, Vermont Governor. Elected to represent Vermont's 3rd District in the United States House of Representatives, he served from 1873 to 1879. He also served as a Member of the Vermont State House of Representatives in 1861, Member of the Vermont State Senate in 1866, Lieutenant Governor of Vermont from 1869 to 1870, and as the Governor of Vermont in 1870. He was also a highly respected Vermont sportsman and area banker in which he held many posts. He was the son of Rebecca Ferrin by her 1st husband Rev. Jehiel Preston Hendee.
