Mrs. Lorena Adams, Gassville Resident

Funeral services for Mrs. Lorena Adams, 77, a longtime resident of Gassville who died at a local nursing home on Wednesday of last week, were conducted Saturday at the McClure Chapel.

Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband, Wythe W. Adams of Gassville; a daughter, Mrs. Joan (Rex) Dilbeck of Gassville; a son, Navy Capt. Lynn Wade Adams of Alexandria, Va.; five grandchildren, Mrs. Donnie (Stanley) Pitchford of Mountain Home, Seaman David Allman Adams, who is stationed with the Naval Support Activity at Danang, Vietnam, and Misses Paula, Laurie and Margaret Adams of Alexandria; three great-grandchildren, Leean, Wade and Jeffery Lee Pitchford, and a brother, Paul Allman, all of Mountain Home; two aunts and several nieces and nephews.

The daughter of M. T. Allman and Donnie Smith Allman, Mrs. Adams was born at Springfield, Mo., on October 17, 1891. She moved with her family to Gassville at the age of seven years, and resided there until her death. She was married to Mr. Adams on Nov. 29, 1914. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Cotter, and a life member of its Woman's Society of Christian Service. She served for 27 years as a teacher and superintendent of the children's department of the church school; and was active in local, district and conference work of the WSCS, and held various offices before ill health forced her retirement.

Officiating at the funeral service were Rev. Ray Edwards, minister of the Cotter United Methodist Church, Rev. Donald Moore, minister of the Mountain Home Methodist Parish, and Rev. John McCormack of Siloam Springs. Pallbearers were L. A. Rice, Dr. Richard Byrd, Lloyd Fisk, Hobert Pitchford, Lon Lonon and Andrew Houser.

Interment was in the Gassville Cemetery, under the direction of the McClure Service.
