Pvt Harold G. Hull, 29, who entered the Army Nov 22, 1943, and was reported missing in action in France, Nov 22, 1944, died in action it was announced in a war department telegram received last week. He was the son of Howard Hull of this village and the late Maude Lamb Hull. His widow, Mrs. Thelma Crossman Hull and an infant daughter reside at 296 West main st. Pvt Hull was in the infantry. In addition to the father, other survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Wadsworth Gardner (Orah), Mrs. Henry Haskins (Beatrice), Mrs. Kenneth Doiran (Phillis).
Mrs. Hull received news Dec 8 that Pvt Hull was missing in action. Early last August (1944) Pvt Hull was shipped to Italy. He did not see action there but was compelled to undergo a minor operation. He was sent to France around last Sept 15 and had been in action a month.
Pvt Hall and Miss Crossman, daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Crossman, this village, were married April 25, 1943.
A graduate of Gouverneur high with the class of 1936, Pvt Hull, before entering the army had been employed at the Balmat mines of the St. Joseph Lead Co.
Following processing at Camp Upton, LI, Pvt Hull trained at Camp Shelby, Miss seven months and was at Ft George G. Meade, Md before going overseas.
His last letter home was written three days before he gave his life for his country.
