US Congressman. During the Revolutionary War, he served as a surgeon on the American frigate "Boston". After the war, he was member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1809, 1811 and 1812. In 1815, he was elected as a Federalist to the Fourteenth Congress, serving until 1817. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of medicine and was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1819.
