Known by many as "Marv", he was born in Bristow, Oklahoma to Clay Arnold and Lavina Mae (Jones) Borthick. Dad was a hard-working truck driver that hauled everything from dynamite to heavy equipment. He once said he had gone more miles in reverse than we'd ever go in forward. He enjoyed motorcycles, tinkering on cars and trucks, camping, boating, fishing and ceramics. He also enjoyed meeting people over the Ham radio. He was a good carpenter. He loved his family and enjoyed his pets. A funny, talented, giving man, that never met a stranger--the easiest man to talk with. Good at healing broken dreams and broken hearts.

While at a truck stop in Montrose, Colorado, he sat down to watch television and had a fatal heart attack. Others around him at the time thought he was just sleeping. His funeral was held April 19, 1991.
