Widow of Senator

Vivian Bratton, Mother Of U.S. Judge, Dies

Longtime Albuquerque resident Vivian Bratton, the mother of U.S. District Judge Howard Bratton, died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was 91.

She lived in Albuquerque since 1925 and was the widow of prominent New Mexican Sam G. Bratton, a two-term U.S. Senator and a longtime judge with state and federal courts, who died in 1962.

In addition to her son, Mrs. Bratton is survived by a daughter, Mrs. George S. Johnson, also of Albuquerque; and five grandchildren, Mrs. LaMar Parrish, Kay Bratton and Jean Bratton, all of Albuquerque, William H. Pickens of Davis, Calif., and Sam G. Bratton of Tulsa, Okla.

She was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and the Central United Methodist Church Women.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal SE, with Dr. Harry Vanderpool officiating. Private interment will be in Fairview Memorial Park.

The family prefers contributions to the Central United Methodist Church, 215 Pine NE, or to the charity of one's choice.
