Michael Charles Somar was born in Pittsburg PA but grew up in Columbus, OH. He is the son of Michael and Martha Bezubiak Somar. He had five brothers and sisters, Joyce Ann, Sharon, Robert, James, and David. He married Barbara Sue Benion June 15, 1974 and they had four children, Michael Johnathan, Jeffery Vincent, Michele Marleen, and John Christopher. They lived in Columbus and Gahanna, Ohio. Mike owned a grocery store "Earl's grocery" until just before his death in 1980.
