Dominican Republic Resistance Fighter. Along with her sisters Patria, Minerva, and Maria Teresa, she took part in the opposition to Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo. The youngest of the four sisters, she was educated at the University of Santo Domingo, where she earned a degree in mathematics. She joined her sisters in clandestine operations against the Trujillo regime after they witnessed a massacre by the dictator's forces. She and her sisters Patria and Minerva were captured and incarcerated by government forces, but were released due to international pressure and opposition to Trujillo. However, they were accosted by Trulillo's men and brutally murdered. Their deaths galvanized further opposition, which would result in the assassination of Rafael Leonidas Trujillo six months after the murder of the sisters. Today they are hailed as Dominican Republic National Heroes.
