Religious Figure. He was a Rabbi, who was the founder of many synagogues He was a Goldsmid Professor of Hebrew at University College, London. He served on many Royal Commissions, including one on the cinema in 1917. He was a Prolific writer and the first British Rabbi to receive a knighthood in 1923.
