Country Musician. Born in Maces Spring, Virginia, she was a member of country music's most popular family, the Carter Family Singers. Anita Carter found success on her own doing duets and as a folk solo act during the early 1950s to late 1960s. Her hits included "Bluebird Island," "Down the Trail of Achin' Hearts," "Busted," and "I'm Gonna Leave You." In the 1970s, she paired up with Waylon Jennings and made appearances with the Carter Family. She passed away in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
