Actress. She was an American actress of the 19th century who debuted in "The Ladies' Battle" at the Arch Street Theatre in Philadelphia in 1872. She subsequently appeared in "As You Like It," "Frou-Frou," and "The School for Scandal." Born into a theatrical family, her parents were John Drew and Louisa Lane Drew, both distinguished actors, and her brother was John Drew, Jr., who also became an actor. She married actor Maurice Barrymore (Blythe) in 1876, and was the mother of stage and film stars Lionel, Ethel, and John Barrymore. Starting January of 1890, her greatest stage success was a comic role opposite W.H. Crane in "The Senator, which ran for nearly two years, until ill health forced her to leave the cast in December of 1891. Her health continued to decline over the next year.
