Blues Musician. Born Pinkney Anderson in rural South Carolina, he became one of the greatest performers of the blues style known as the "Piedmont Blues." He spent the majority of his life touring the south with a traveling minstrel show. He made some recordings for the Columbia Record label in 1928, and later made recordings for the Riverside Record label in the late 1940's and the Bluesville Label in the late 1960s. He appeared in the film "The Blues" in 1963. He later became part of the blues revival of the late 1960s and made appearances at places such as Yale University. The rock group "Pink Floyd" took the first part of its name from Pink Anderson. He died of a heart attack in 1974.
