Born September 12, 1920 to Melvin D. and Gertrude Eads in Judith Gap, Montana.

Jean grew up in Clarkston, Idaho. She graduated from Clarkston High School and later served her country as a member of the United States Army from 1942 until 1945. She married Russell B. Ashley in 1944. They were together for forty-seven years until his death in June of 1991.

Jean was the mother of twelve children. She raised them to be strong and independent but to always remember the value of family.

She is survived by her sisters, Eva Whinery, Reno, NV; Eileen Henry of Seattle, WA; sons: Dwayne (Joy), Kenneth (Shelly), Russell, Jr. (Wendy), Garry (Wilma), John (Jeannie), and Wendell (Norma); daughters: Laura, Donna (Ken) Warr, Diane (Tim) Scott, Wendy Christine (Brady) Rich, and Dorothy (Robert) Orr. She is also survived by thirty-one grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren who will remember her as a loving and special person in their lives. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Darlene.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 12:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road (1700 West), where friends may call Thursday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and again Friday from 11:00-11:45 a.m.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
