William Logan May was one of twelve children born to Thomas Walton May and Ellen Vandora Wonders.

He married Minnie Agnes Muskat on March 18, 1903 in Oak Hill, Crawford County, Missouri. When he first wanted to court Minnie, she had initially refused him as she didn't want her mother left all alone. Will solved that problem by letting his mother-in-law live with their family for the rest of her life.

Will and Minnie had nine children, Benjamin James (born and died 15 Jan 1904 in Oak Hill, MO), Esther Ruth Belle, Estelle Golda Victoria, Virgil Thomas, Albert Earl, Ida Lenora, Alma Daphine, Myrtle Yvonne and Velma Lee May.

Will and Minnie celebrated 54 years of marriage before his death in 1957.
